Every year, Peggy McBrayer and her friends would travel to Charleston, SC to attend a festival and go to the theatre. But in 2003, she decided to break tradition and stay home, because she no longer could hear the actors on stage.

"I was missing what they were saying," she says. "I just couldn't enjoy it. Soon after, my grandchildren were always saying, ‘GrandPeg, you can't hear.' So I decided to take a friend's advice and go to Shelby Hearing & Balance Center.

"My hearing aids make it possible to live the life I love!" - Dr Emile Gebel, Shelby NC

Before Dr. Emile Gebel became an ophthalmologist, he was a pianist. He started at age 5 or 6 and soon was playing by ear. "To play, you've got to hear what's going on," he says.

Years later, Dr. Gebel learned he had Meniere's disease, which eventually resulted in profound hearing loss. But thanks to Shelby Hearing & Balance Center, it didn't stop him from playing piano.

"I've been very satisfied with their care for well over 20 years. They know what they're doing," says Dr. Gebel. "They've always taken great care of me, and their service is excellent," he adds.

"Plus, they've allowed me to play piano. As far as I'm concerned, if you have hearing aids that do that, you're in great shape!"
